Cubbon Park, also called Sri Chamarajendra Park, is an essential place in Bengaluru. Cubbon Park has many essential places like the city’s green heart and cultural centre. Named after Sir Mark Cubbon, the Commissioner of Mysore, the park is famous for its natural beauty and historical importance. This 300-acre expanse of lush greenery has been a cherished landmark since its establishment in 1870, providing both locals and guests with a peaceful haven from the city’s frenetic pace. Kempegowda International Airport is the new airport on Bengaluru city’s outskirts, around a one-hour drive from Cubbon Park. M.G. Road, Kasturba Road, Hudson Circle, and Ambedkar Road are the main roads around the park.

Subsequent expansion has since taken place and the park's area is now reported to be 300 acres (1.2 km2).

It was in Mysore zoo, that pair of Orangutans, Gorilla and some Chimpanzees were brought in an Indian zoo for the first time (1977). Many exotic animals are displayed in natural environment so as to create awareness about their protection and to offer an educative experience about them. Later, these zoological gardens eventually in 1979 were transferred to the Zoo Authority of Karnataka. Inside the park, a separate Sri Chamarajendra Park section has been created which can be reserved for parties, especially for young kids. A portrait of Sir Mark Cubbon is displayed in the central hall of this building, while at the back of the building a statue of Sir Mark Cubbon by Baron Marochetti has been placed. It is one of the most attractive buildings that are located around the premises of Cubbon Park. Located on the Kasturba Road, Government Museum is another place to visit. Located at the entrance of Cubbon Park, on the Kasturba Road, Bangalore Aquarium is a must visit for everyone.

This building is surrounded by lush greenery of the park on three sides and a beautiful rose garden in the front. The park has well laid paths for people to enjoy their nature walk. It was Spring time and social media was flooded with pictures of Bangalore Blooms in which Cubbon park had a special mention. Being a Bangalorean, I feel sad to say that I have never visited Cubbon park till date. At Government Aquarium, visitors can see aquatic creatures on display in over 3 floors.

The park creatively integrates natural rock formations with trees, bamboo groves, grassy expanses, and flower beds. Initially, the park covered 100 acres (0.40 km²) but has grown to 300 acres (1.2 km²) over time.
